The Full Circle of Sustainability: Why LEED Credentials Matter

When we talk about sustainability, we often focus on "doing less harm." But in the built environment, sustainability is about doing more good.

As a professional holding both LEED AP BD+C and LEED AP O+M credentials, I view sustainability through a unique lens: the full lifecycle of a building. It isn’t just about a "green" ribbon-cutting ceremony; it’s about ensuring that a structure performs at its peak from the first day of design to its fiftieth year of operation.

Bridging the Gap: Design vs. Performance

In the industry, we often see a "performance gap"—buildings that are designed to be efficient but fail to meet those goals once the tenants move in. By combining the expertise of Building Design + Construction with Operations + Maintenance, we can close that gap.

The Triple Bottom Line in the Built Environment

Sustainability is often described as a three-legged stool. In my work, I apply this to every project:

Looking Ahead

Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. Whether we are retrofitting a historic landmark or breaking ground on a net-zero facility, the goal remains the same: meeting the needs of the present without compromising the future.

I am proud to leverage my LEED credentials to help partners navigate this complex landscape. Let’s build and operate a world that lasts.
